Tech Tips for valves & actuators (Just click on 'Answer:')
Q: I am trying to find a replacement actuator for a Danfos SMVE-24. This available in the UK. I want to adapt a Belimo or any other local Brand. The actuator controls a Danfos MRV valve.
Submitted by: Dave Spies, Service Manager Monsen Engineering Co.
Answer:
A: Belimo does not have an engineered solution for this particular valve, but by completing and submitting their retrofit data form which we sent to you, they will work to make one for you.

Q: I am looking for repair parts for a Siemens Valve. Part number 599-02053.
Need a stem and plug assembly for the valve.
Submitted by: Patrick Benefield, Sales Manager C & C Group
Answer:
A: As this represents a very inexpensive valve body, Siemens does not offer repair parts for it. They suggest complete replacement of the valve body. You can check your pricing by logging on to neccdelivers.com and finding the part number in our parts search area; or by calling us at 800-227-9800

Q: Do you have a replacement for these two valves. Johnson Controls V 4440 1008 A7824, and V4440 1001 7824. They both have the same actuator V-3000. They are sequencing valves for a green house.
Submitted by: Dan Davis, HVAC TECH Converse County School Dist. #1
Answer:
A: We can get the replacements for you, as we are an authorized distributor for Johnson controls. I will have your support person contact you.

Q: what is the direct replacement of honeywell thermotat T9065A this therm is using with honeywell actuator ML7984 please adwise me the suitable thermostat. 1no common 24VAC transformer using with 15no thermostat and 15no Actuator valve.
Submitted by: Ibrahim .c., HVAC Supervisor npcc
Answer:
A: There is no direct replacement, but there are a couple of options. You might use Honeywells T921A1191 or their TB7980A1006. Either one will effectively control your actuators.

Q: Can you recommend a floating or modulating actuator/linkage to replace the pneumatic actuator on a Barber-Coleman V1000-40404 valve?
Submitted by: Tom Parran, Project Manager Crae Control Systems
Answer:
A: There is no easy retrofit solution to be recommended. Belimo will build a custom linkage, based upon specific measurements to be taken and filled in on their retrofit documentation and submitting it back through us to them. Our feeling, however, is that due to the age of the valve, it will be more economical to replace the entire assembly.

Q: I have an obsolete robertshaw pneumatic valve part number
V-8000-15111
I need a replacement valve
VP-525a-1150 ????
Submitted by: Mike nyssd
Answer:
A: As the cV for your original valve is 2.2, and the valve is 3/4", in order to maintain the same flow characteristic you should use a 1/2" valve. The cVs of todays valves are far more generous in relation to the size of the valve. Unfortunately, the spring range of your original assemble (3-10psi) will be a challenge to match without a positioner. Call us at 800-227-9800. We will be happy to help you replace the valve. Itll be an easy process - just acouple of variables that only you can answer for us.

Q: I am looking for a replacement for;
barber colman half inch diverting valve
vb 9323-000-4-4 2 - 7 psi
Submitted by: Ken, HVAC Kenai Pen Borough
Answer:
A: The prescribed replacement is TACs VB-7323-0-4-04. The valve has a slightly higher cV (4.4 as opposed to 4.0)and meets the face-to-face dimensions of its older sister, the VB-9323. Call us at 800-227-9800 to obtain pricing and delivery information, or check the Parts Search area of this web site.

Q: Belimo actuators were orig. installed in 2003, # LR24 with B 310B 3 way valves on our reheat vav boxes.
The new redesigned actuator is a LRB24-3
with three different packages of attachment bolts, but none of them are the right size and my bolt supplier can't obtain them. So do you have the
correct size from Belimo? (2 inches long
and the smaller thread size )
Submitted by: Rusty Yarman, Maintenance Supervisor Northwestern Schools
Answer:
A: I sent you a document that should help define the necessary screws for mounting the actuator to the LRB24-3. Call us at 800-227-9800 if you need anything else.

Q: Is there a place to retrieve flow patterns of various manufactures valves? Do they follow manfacturing guidelines on labeling their ports?
Submitted by: David Watson Peterson Service Co.
Answer:
A: The best way to view various manufacturers valve flow patterns is to go their respective web sites and look for the technical data you need. As to port labeling, it is best to review the documentation to insure that your requirement is met by the valve you order. At neccdelivers.com you will find links to many manufacturers sites for your convenience. In the parts search area, click on the brand to transfer to that manufacturers site.

Q: Is there an electronic retrofit linkage available for the Powers 657-7680 Model 3D11 1/2" globe valves? They are approx 30 years old.
Submitted by: Kent Flowers, President Shasta Control Company
Answer:
A: Siemens has recently introduced a series of universal retrofit kits, allowing the use of their Flowrite valve actuators to operate many older, obsolete Siemens valve bodies, as well as many 3rd party manufactured valves. The kits address Siemens 658 and 591 series valves, as well as many Honeywell, Johnson Control and Invensys valves. However, the 657 series is altogether different. Given the age of the valve, it may be prudent to suggest complete replacement. My suggestion for replacement would be a Siemens valve # 599-01137, 3 way mixing with a cv of 4, coupled with an SSB81U for floating control, or an SSB61U for 0-10Vdc proportional control.

Q: If I have a three inch chill water line with average 80 psi that feeds a hvac unit.
What type valve with a electric actuator thats compatible for xl500 honeywell control module
woul;d stop water bleed-by while valve is closed.Oh! and the less room it takes up the better.
Submitted by: L.rigdon, enfgineer frb
Answer:
A: I would suggest a Siemens valve and electronic-hydraulic actuator in order to achieve the desired close off. Your problem may be the space available for installation. Call us at 800 227 9800 to go over the application.
