ASHRAE TO HOST SATELLITE WEBCAST ON MOLD ATLANTA - Concerns about mold in the building environment are no longer limited to just humid environments or North America, says the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Mold is now a global concern for designers, contractors, building owners/operators, and building occupants. Information on how to properly control moisture and humidity conditions in order to minimize mold will be presented in an April 13, 2005, satellite broadcast and Webcast, "Mold in Our Building Environment," offered by ASHRAE. The program is sponsored by ASHRAE's Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC). (more) STUPID CELEBRITY COMMENTS. These come from the entertainment elite who think the rest of us are a bunch of rubes: "Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff." --Mariah Carey "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life," --Brooke Shields, "Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country," --Mayor Marion Barry, Washington, DC. "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it." --Al Gore, Vice President (DUH !) CALCULATING LEAK RATES A new Clean Air Act amendment will likely cause owners and operators of equipment that contains ozone-depleting refrigerant charges in excess of 50 pounds to review and re-evaluate their leak rate calculation methods. The actual impact of the Environmental Protection Agency's changes in Section 608 of the Act, which are scheduled to become effective March 14, 2005, will not be known for some time. What is clear is the agency is making a significant attempt to address the growing number of new refrigerants that are entering the marketplace.
The Building Control Workbench is a valuable web-based tool designed to help Consulting Engineers and other specifiers find Honeywell product and system documents quickly and easily. It offers users a single-window view of Honeywell's commercial building control products, including HVAC, Fire, Security, Video, Combustion, Asset Tracking and Access Control.
