San Francisco Ordinance Would
Require LEED® for All Buildings
SAN FRANCISCO - A
proposed green building ordinance in San Francisco would require most new
commercial and residential high-rises to meet LEED building criteria. If
passed the ordinance would impact both public and private sector
buildings. San Francisco officials say they want to get tough because the
operation and construction of buildings account for half the city's CO2

LEED® - Certified
Buildings 25% More Energy-Efficient, Says Study
WHITE
SALMON, Wash. - LEED® -certified buildings
are delivering 25%-30% average energy savings in relation to non-certified
buildings, according to a recent report by the New Buildings Institute.
The study analyzes measured energy performance for 121 LEED-NC (new
construction) buildings. It involved metrics such as energy use intensity,
ENERGY STAR® ratings and measured results compared
to initial design and baseline modeling. Read

ASHRAE Urges Tax
Credits For Renewable Energy.
ASHRAE is a part of 100 business and advocacy groups
urging the U.S. Senate to support legislation that extends renewable
energy and efficiency tax credits. This coalition membership is part of
ASHRAE's efforts to support the energy tax credit and deduction provisions
in legislation. Previous action by ASHRAE's Washington office has included
participation in the Commercial Building Tax Deduction Coalition, a
building-industry-focused group, and sending letters of support to
Congressional members. Read

Database Includes Energy Efficiency
The Database of
State Incentives for Renewable Energy http://www.dsireusa.org
which offers information on government and utility incentives for
renewable energy, now also provides information on energy efficiency
incentives. The site has been expanded to include state and federal
incentives for energy efficiency upgrades; purchases of energy efficient
products or systems; and construction of new energy efficient
buildings.
